Sifu
9/10

From the very first punch, Sifu is utterly uncompromising in its design. Absolver developer Sloclap’s latest martial arts beat-em-up is bold, its combat exquisite, its animation top-notch, its music outstanding, and its story – while very simple – is poignant and elegantly told. It’s also unforgiving and unapologetic, with pockets of frustrating moments during which I was certainly not in my happy place. But by the end, Sifu offered me a nearly unparalleled sense of mastery and accomplishment, a
Dying Light 2 Stay Human is an ambitious zombie action adventure that's packed with top-notch parkour, an awesome open world, and every painful bug in the book. Available on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.
Halo Infinite’s single-player campaign, like a new generation of Master Chief’s MJOLNIR armor, powers up a 20-year-old series, by both returning to its roots and blazing new trails to build off of. By shifting to an open-world map while retaining the classic gameplay both on foot and in its iconic vehicles, it offers a level of freedom in combat not seen in any prior Halo game. There’s a lot to do in this expansive playground, and completing its never-dull-or-overwhelming list of activities earn
Far Cry 6
8/10
80
Far Cry 6 smooths over a lot of the bumps that have cropped up in the past few games and even though it misses some steps, especially with its new inventory system, it's the best the series has been in years.
Deathloop
10/10
100
Deathloop encases fun investigation work and satisfying combat in a unique time loop mechanic to create a tremendously satisfying adventure.
Even with a few rough edges, Psychonauts 2 is just about everything I could have hoped for from this long-awaited sequel.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD reviewed by Travis Northup on Nintendo Switch. This HD remaster is a fantastic Zelda adventure that's aged like wine, even if Wii-era motion controls still aren't great and its new joystick controls don't do much to help.
Biomutant
6/10

Biomutant has a lot of the building blocks of a top-drawer action RPG but its cookie-cutter approach to objectives and puzzles starts feeling very repetitive very early on.
The first chapter's remaster removes many – but not all – of the caveats from my strong recommendation to revisit BioWare's epic sci-fi RPG from the beginning (or to play it for the first time).
It has some slapstick ultraviolent humor going for it, but it's nowhere near as consistently funny as it is consistently janky to control.
A stealth-action game that rewards sloppiness over cunning. That can be fun, but it also badly needs more content.
A strong Irish story and a few interesting battles amid a sea of run-of-the-mill recycled quests make Wrath of the Druids worth a return trip to Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
A leaner but meaner follow-up to one of the best ever open-world survival games.
A genuinely engrossing and increasingly combat-heavy continuation of the Ethan Winters story.
Returnal's runs are too long for their own good, but the moment-to-moment action is phenomenal in this surprisingly lengthy and deep third-person shooter roguelike
This remaster makes a grand old game feel less old – but it doesn't make it feel new again.
A photography game with occasionally clunky progression, but which is eager to show off its delightful subjects and let them surprise you.
MotoGP 21
7/10

MotoGP 21 is a good year for new riders to hop on but it hasn't particularly distanced itself much from MotoGP 20.
NieR Replicant is an action RPG with obvious flaws involving outdated quest design and repetitive combat, but those flaws are easily forgiven in light of its incredible characters, along with its unconventional and emotionally resonant story.
This isn't the generational leap forward we might've expected following a new console launch, but it's still the best baseball sim you can play on any platform.
